“My own suffering.”
The story of Femometer begins with my own heartbreaking experience of waiting anxiously for a newborn. My name is Adam, I’m a Father, and my wife and I went through three miscarriages back to back. Only those who have gone through something as horrendous as this can truly understand how painful it is. We felt the pain physically and mentally. Obviously, I didn’t have to endure the physical pain the way my wife did, but I stood by her side and witnessed everything that happened. I remember it all so vividly, and still taste the bitterness of failing to bring a lovely little thing to this world.
“I’m not alone on this.”
“There must be a way to end this.” I kept thinking, “I’m not the only one going through this. There must be millions of other families all around the world suffering like this. There must be a more effective way to help people better prepare for the arrival of their newborn so that fewer people will have to experience what we’ve been through. There has to be some way to help women learn about their body & fertility, so this struggle could be reduced.”
“When technology meets healthcare.”
Technology keeps improving lives. I’m a firm believer. That’s why I decided to meet up with Jason, one of my best friends from college, who worked for one of the world’s largest technology companies. Having been working in the medical industry for many years myself, I was hoping to combine my medical experience with Jason’s technological expertise to work out if we could actually create something that could really change people’s lives.
“If we’re going to do it, we do it smart.”
After drowning in research papers, conducting personal interviews with medical professionals & users and having fierce discussions with one another, we finally decided to start with a small gadget, a basal thermometer, which is now the Femometer Vinca - named after a flower that symbolizes fertility. We wanted it to alleviate some of the stress of dealing with fertility & ovulation tracking, so instead of making a regular thermometer, we decided to make it “smart” by arming it with AI(Artificial Intelligence) and IOT(Internet of Things) technology. We wanted Vinca to do more than just measure temperature. We wanted our product to be able to tell a woman what was unique about her cycle data, so she could keep learning about her body and menstrual cycle. Knowing not just the “how” but also the “why” is key. Give this information to a couple and they will feel more confident when either trying to get pregnant or when looking for a more natural alternative to hormonal birth control pills.
”Find what’s unique about your cycle.“
Nowadays we have a bigger Femometer family because we know BBT alone cannot show you the whole picture; it’s not the only data that matters! Women need more support for their menstrual health. We’ll keep pushing forward and have never been more focused on the future. Eventually, we hope to be able to show you everything that’s unique about you. The cycle data that tells your personal story, a curve that reveals the changes you’re going through or provides solutions that apply only to your situation. We don’t trust one-for-all solutions. We believe in connecting dots to tell you your holistic, unique story. That’s what Femometer is here for.
